Looking into at a sunlit grove of palm trees along the mostly black sand beach of Keawaiki Bay, north of Kona, Hawai'i Island; an 1859 eruption of Mauna Loa flowed into this area, which was also the site of an ancient Hawaiian settlement and temple (or heiau).
